Course description

Wageningen University hosts a diversity of PhD-candidates regarding background, type of PhD appointment and funding. This diversity requires a set of regulations, procedures and agreements that cover all options to prevent mishaps and overcome pitfalls.

In this module we will deepen the understanding of arrangements and agreements of the PhD-trajectory and explore the roles and responsibilities within the process of these arrangements.

We start off with identifying the various challenges that are attached to finding the fitting PhD-candidate for the position and understanding the arrangements of scholarship and registration procedures. We follow-up with discussing the next 15 month up to the go-no go decision and finish the session with the final stretch of the trajectory towards the defence. We will discuss based of a series of anonymised real life cases and conflicts to deepen the understanding of arrangements and agreements with PhD-candidate, supervisors and third parties involved.
