Professional in EngD supervision

Although basic elements and procedures regarding supervision are similar to that of a PhD candidate, supervising EngD candidates is quite a different cup of tea. This workshop focusses on the basic elements of EngD supervision, shedding light on the similarities and differences with PhD supervision.

The workshop consists of an on-site (De Bosrand, Ede) session in which we start off with giving insight in what an EngD entails (process, deliverables and learning goals) and how this differs from a PhD. Accordingly challenges in EngD supervision, that have been observed and experienced, are presented. Accordingly we focus on aspects of good EngD supervision where we elaborate on do’s and don’ts, tips and tops. We end with identifying where personal challenges of participants may lie and how these can be tackled.

A month later we reconvene for half a day on Campus to reflect on how things have progressed with tackling your personal challenge(s) regarding EngD supervision and input is given when participants would like to receive more input.

Between the training in Ede and the reflection day on Campus participants will meet at least once to discuss how things are going to help each other take things further.

Fee

Reduced fee: Supervisors who are members of a Wageningen Graduate School (EPS, PE&RC, VLAG, WASS, WIAS, WIMEK) and are supervisor of EngD candidates who will be defending their thesis at Wageningen University	€ 350,=
University fee: All other Wageningen University and Research postdocs and staff	€700,=

Fee includes study and training material, catering and overnight stay

Cancellation condition

You may cancel free of charge up to two weeks before the start of the course. After this date you will be charged a € 100,- cancellation fee. Unless:

• You can find someone to replace you in the course and supply the course coordinator with the name and contact information of your replacement.
• You have a valid reason to cancel (illness or death in the family 1st or 2nd degree).
