This course is useful for anyone who wants to learn how to apply the power of effectiveness for greater success in their professional and personal lives.
Would you like to:
- be better equipped for reaching your personal and professional goals?
- feel more comfortable in speaking up in groups of professional peers e.g. at conferences?
- be more powerful in standing up for yourself and your professional needs?
- be able to express your positive and negative feelings openly and honestly?
- improve your interpersonal skills?
- being able to build meaningful relations with others
This course assists you in building and empowering your attitude, behaviour and position in your professional surroundings. No matter how competent a person you are, you will not have sustained and lasting success unless you are able to effectively lead yourself, influence, engage and collaborate with others.
In combining some theory with lots of excercises, roleplay, feedback and exchange of experiences you will be able to implement new behaviour into your everyday practice. We will focus on learning how to communicate effectively, to assert yourself, giving and receiving feedback, create win-win situations and connect with others in an effective and supportive way.
During the training you will learn to choose behaviour that will help you to pursue your professional goals and be more confident in professional settings.
|Target Group:||PhD's (focus on 1st or 2nd year PhD's since then one has optimal use of the training)|
|Group size:||Max. 12 participants|
|Course duration:||4 days and a personal coaching session|
|Credit points:||1.3 ECTS|
|Name lecturer:||Jessica Tummers, Shiraz Khan and Pablo Bakarbessy (the training is provided by Meijer & Meijaard)|
This is an interactive 4 days training, divided in two different parts.
Part 1 Insight in your own behaviour in order to effectively position yourself
The topics of these 2 days revolve around insight into yourself and how you can master your own behaviour and communication. You are profoundly affected by how you feel: If you feel strong, then you work well. If you feel weak, then you don’t work well. How can you make yourself stronger, even if the situation is bad?
Topics: How to assert yourself? How to get rid of irrational thoughts? How to build confidence in attitude and body language? How to communicate effectively? How to receive and give feedback?
Part 2 Insight in your behaviour in order to effectively cooperate with others
The topics of these 2 days revolve around building and sustaining effective relations and a supportive network. People don’t always share the same ideas, therefore conflict is inevitable. A conflict can be destructive if it is not handled in a right way. A well-managed conflict can be beneficial to all parties involved
Topics: understand the parameters of influencing others, skills and insight into handling conflict situations and different characters, create win-win situations by negotiating, inspiring others and being inspired by others.
Before the course:
Before the course starts all participants will fill in a form with a few questions regarding their behavioural preferences. This form will be used to get a clear picture of what aspects of effective behaviour the individual participants would like to work on during the course. This form will be send to you after registration.
After the course:
Within a month after the course has ended participants will have a one-on-one coaching session. This personal coaching session with one of the trainers will be used to discuss the experiences with the personalised assignments and goals. Advice will be given on how to deal with pitfalls and other difficulties and on how to make the best use of what has been discussed during the training sessions.
